The Real Beef

So once a week the ladies of Obsessed with Real Life, meet up at Ryerson for a radio show. 88.1 Sermonic Electronic, where we have an opportunity to take is some crazy music as well as chit chat with our radio personalities.
Our discussion started on the topic of with Gilbert Arenas who was charged with gun possession. He had 4 unloaded guns in his locker in the locker room. Umm WTF!!!??? He later tweeted the following
“I wake up this morning and seen i was the new JOHN WAYNE..lmao media is too funny,”
Not really funny though. So John Wayne the actor of John Wayne the murderer??? Who knows really but the topic branched off into the “image” these “celebrities” portray of themselves in the public eye.
For instance in the music industry; rappers n hip hop artists who start “beef” is just ridiculous. I understand the majority of it is for publicity and to help record sales (cause the industry is THAT bad we got to make up fake stories now to keep people interested) but for the ones that do go a lot further, there’s a concern. From what I’ve seen over the years, once a new artist emerges their sole purpose in the game is to share their “story” about struggle, poverty, violence and the environment they came out of. Their purpose is to grow and inspire other to want to do the same “From Marcy to Madison Square”. If you and I are both coming out of struggle and making names for ourselves, whats the purpose in trying to bring you down?? Crab bucket mentality**

And weather or not one wants to admit; those in the music industry are the MOST influential on the youth of today. So when they see or hear things about athletes bringing guns to locker rooms, or rappers having shoot out and bashing each other, they’re going to think “Well that’s just the way things are supposed to be”. In reality its not. Trust me. I know this.

I may be rambling, but this is just an FYI to those in the industry. Think twice (maybe even 3 times) before you do things. Billion dollar home n Benz or not, people are watching and listening, children are watching and listening. Take heed, those are your biggest fans and greatest supporters, so treat them like it.
